President of IWF Conducts Inspection of Chinese Training Camp Ahead of Asian Games
Mohammed Jalood, the President of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), undertook a personal inspection of the Chinese training camp in preparation for the upcoming Asian Games. The weightlifting competitions are scheduled to take place in the Chinese city of Hangzhou, while the training camp is situated within the Jiangshan-Hushan complex.
In an unexpected turn of events, he made an in-person visit to this facility, accompanied by prominent figures from the Asian Weightlifting Federation. Furthermore, the top officials of the Chinese Weightlifting Association and the mayor of the city hosting the sports complex, along with his deputy, joined the tour.
During the visit, the delegation of officials not only explored the training facilities but also inspected the residential quarters for athletes, the dining facilities, and the competition venues. Mohammed Jalood extended his best wishes to all the athletes and expressed hope that they would achieve several medals in the highly anticipated competitions. He particularly highlighted the Chinese side’s generous provision of free accommodation for 33% of the training camp participants.
The participation of representatives from the Chinese government in the field of weightlifting did not go unnoticed, as the tour also encompassed discussions regarding the development of this sport and China’s prospects on the international sports stage.
Currently, athletes from several countries in the forefront of Asia, the Middle East, and Central Asia are training at this facility. These countries include Uzbekistan, Iraq, Qatar, Oman, Iran, Bahrain, and Mongolia.
It is worth noting that the Asian Games themselves are scheduled to take place from September 30th to October 7th. These games serve as an informal continuation of the IWF, which has already concluded in Saudi Arabia.
