World’s Strongest Man Mitchell Hooper Impresses With His Olympic Weightlifting
In a video shared yesterday to his Instagram profile, the current world’s strongest man, Mitchell Hooper, impressed everyone by managing to lift 185 kg for 3 reps on the split jerk exercise.
For someone who doesn’t specialize in Olympic weightlifting, it’s incredible to see the Canadian lift such solid weight and with such good technique – he doesn’t seem to be overcompensating during any part of the movement, and he’s managing to go for more than one rep, which is quite the achievement.
If you didn’t already know, Mitchell Hooper won the latest edition of World’s Strongest Man in 2023, winning 3 out of the 6 events and managing to come out on top, beating ex-champions such as Tom Stoltman (who finished second) and Brian Shaw (who finished outside the top five). Along with that, Hooper also won the Arnold Strongman Classic last year, one of the most important events in the world of strongmen.
Apart from reels showing him doing Olympic lifts, Hooper’s Instagram profile is also a great insight into the life of a professional athlete competing in a weightlifting-related sport, as he is often posting stories and videos about the food he consumes, how he recovers, and what kind of exercises he does to improve.
