Luo Shifang won Gold in The Women’s 59 kg Category At the 2024 IWF Weightlifting World Cup
As the Paris Olympics approach, athletes are enthusiastically fighting for their last chance to qualify for the IWF World Cup in Thailand.
True to tradition, the competition began with the lightweight divisions, and today, spectators were captivated by an intense showdown among the competitors in the women’s 59 kg category.
For Luo Shifang from China, the competition day was more than successful. She started off strong, lifting 108 kg in the Snatch on her third attempt and winning the silver medal for the event.
The weightlifter from China followed up with another fantastic performance during the Clean & Jerk as she got 140 kg on her final attempt, which was enough to get her the gold medal for this event.
And so, with one silver and one gold medal and a total of 248 kg, Luo Shifang was declared the overall winner for the category. Not only that but her total set a new World Record total for the women’s 59 kg category.
Luo Shifang is the current World Champion, and she enters the Olympic season in prime form and is ready to attack the gold medal in Paris, as is expected of her.
