Maude G Charron won Bronze in The Women’s 59 kg Category at the 2024 IWF Weightlifting World Cup 

The Paris Olympic Games are nearly upon us, and for many athletes, the IWF World Cup in Thailand is the last chance to qualify for the most important event of the year.

As the stakes are high, the lifters competing will aim to show their very best, and the battle we witnessed in the women’s 59 kg category is proof of that.

For Canadian lifter Maude G Charron, the competition day started more than well, as she managed to lift 106 kg on her final Snatch attempt, which was enough to give her the bronze medal for the event.

It’s worth noting that Charron almost beat her personal best of 107 kg, which is also the national record of Canada. In the Clean & Jerk, she showed a solid performance, finishing 5th overall with 130 kg.

Her total of 236 kg gave her the bronze medal for the category overall as she beat Xinyi Pei from China by 3 kg for the last podium spot.

Maude G Charron has already won the Olympic Games once, getting the gold medal in the 64 kg category at the 2020 Tokyo Games. She’s also won a silver medal at the World Championships and has 2 Pan American Championships to her name.
