IWF Weightlifting World Cup – Men’s 67 kg Recap
Day 5 of the IWF World Cup in Phuket displayed solid lifts in the Men’s 67-kg weight category, where ten male athletes were performing in Group A.
Let’s follow this intriguing competition that will put the point to the athletes who will qualify for the Olympic Games. Moreover, because this weight class isn’t an Olympic one, we’ll see who will move down or up the weights to get to the upcoming Summer Olympics.
RI Won Ju Ends the Performance with New C&J World Record, While Massidda Clinches Silver
Let’s see the TOP 3 weightlifters who gained the highest awards due to their exemplary lifts.

- 🥈MASSIDDA Sergio (ITA) – 145-172-317
- 🥉MURATBEK UULU I. (KGZ) – 122-172-294
The winner in the category was RI Won Ju who snatched 144 kg on the third attempt, lifted 189 kg in Clean & Jerk at the last attempt, and got 333 kg in total.
The second place moved to MASSIDDA Sergio from Italy who did 317 kg in total, 145 kg in Snatch on the third attempt, and 172 kg in Clean & Jerk on the third attempt as well.
The bronze medalist was MURATBEK UULU I. from Kyrgyzstan who snatched 122 kg on the second attempt, 172 kg in Clean & Jerk on the third lift, and got a total of 294 kg.
Top Athletes’ Review
The 67-kg weight category winner RI Won Ju showed solid performance today: he outperformed his opponents by 16 kilos in total, with 17 kilos gap in Clean & Jerk ahead from the second place. He set a new World Record in a Clean & Jerk of 189 kg.
Speaking about the silver medalist, Italian MASSIDDA Sergio, he won the silver medal at the 2023 World Championships in Riyadh. Compared to the prior results of 302 kg, Sergio improved his total by 11 kilos. Earlier at the Europeans in Yerevan he also clinched silver, however his overall result was 292 kg. In 2023 at both events he performed in the 61-kg category.
The bronze holder MURATBEK UULU Ishimbek from Kyrgyzstan was fighting for every single kilo to get to the top positions. He got the bronze medal at the Clean&Jerk at Grand Prix II in Doha, however because of his poor Snatch he ranked just seventh in the competition. So, this time, he surpassed his own accomplishments and moved several heads ahead in the category’s rating.

Considering the Snatch performance, we can state that the performance was good, with minimal red lights on the scoreboard, and with no athlete bombed out.

In the Clean & Jerk exercise, athletes did their best to minimize red lights, but three of ten had two no-lifts. While only one lifter from China, namely Ding Hongjie bombed out. Here’s the list of Top 3 lifters who got winning spots in the exercise:
