Laura Horvath Shocked The Audience with her Performance at the 2024 IWF European Championships

During the past week, we saw many incredible performances during the European Championships in Sofia, and it’s safe to say that we saw many unexpected lifters achieve fantastic results.

However, it would be hard for anyone to top the achievement of Laura Horvath from Hungary, who did something that no one else has managed to do before.

Horvath was crowned the Fittest Woman on Earth in 2023, and she’s one of the most well-known functional fitness athletes in the world, having won numerous competitions already.

What’s shocking is that, together with her career in that field, she has also begun competing in weightlifting and this year participated in Hungary’s national championships with a performance that showed she has the potential to place in the top spots if she competes at the European Championships.

Thankfully for us all, Laura did decide to compete at this year’s Europeans in the women’s 76 kg category, and her performance was more than fantastic, given the fact that she has never been professionally trained to become a weightlifter.

She finished with a total of 205 kg – getting 90 kg on the Snatch and 115 kg on the Clean & Jerk, which placed her sixth overall above many well-trained lifters and fourth in Clean and Jerk, only 1 kilo behind the Bronze medal. Considering her background, it’s safe to say that if Horvath concentrates mainly on weightlifting, she could show even better results in the future.

We could state that it becomes a good practice for fitness athletes to compete in other sports during their preparation this season. We wrote previously about Justin Medeiros who competed in the powerlifting meet.
