IWF World Cup 2024: Preliminary Entries Deadline
This week, the IWF sent all of the National Weightlifting Federations the required information about the applicable deadlines for the 2024 IWF World Cup that will be hosted in Phuket, Thailand, from the 31st of March till the 11th of April.
According to what was shared, the Preliminary Entry deadline has been set to December 31st, 2023 – the last days of this year and exactly three months before the start of the event. What’s more, two months before the competition starts, on January 31st, IWF requested to receive the final entries, and on the 17th of March, the final entries will be verified, and the start book will be released.
As per IWF rules, all the National Federations should ensure that their potential participating athletes are included in the Preliminary Entries because no lifters will be accepted after the 31st of December, 2023.
Along with that, this date is also the last deadline for all athletes to send information about their whereabouts according to the IWF Anti-Doping Rules. If this procedure is not completed on time, the lifters that are not compliant cannot compete in Phuket next year.
Each National Member Federation can have a maximum of 20 athletes per gender, and the final entries are narrowed down to 12 lifters (10 + 2 reserves) per gender.
As things stand, the IWF 2024 World Cup is one of the last events for qualification before the Olympics in Paris, and, together with this year’s World Championship, they’re both mandatory competitions to participate in order to be selected for the 2024 Games.
