Ivan Dimov Won 2 Silver Medals on Day 4 of the IWF Grand Prix in Doha

The fourth competition day at the IWF Grand Prix in Doha was packed with action as two of the men’s categories competed. In the 67 kg division, we had quite a few interesting results, as the qualifying for Paris was on the line for many of the athletes.

One of the lifters who certainly had a great outing was Ivan Dimov from Bulgaria. The athlete who previously competed in the 61 kg category had quite the day, managing to lift 140 kg in the snatch event (earning him a silver medal), 160 kg in the Clean&Jerk, and a total of 300 kg, which was enough to get the silver medal in the overall competition.

When he was competing in the 61 kg division, Dimov won the gold medal at the 2022 European Championships in Tirana, with 135 kg in the snatch, 151 in the C&J, and a total of 286 kg. Later, in the 2023 edition of the competition in Yerevan, he took the bronze medal in the 61 kg weight class, lifting 127-150-277.

Earlier this year, at the World Championship in Riyadh, Dimov competed for the first time in the 67 kg division and finished with 133 kg in the snatch, 160 kg in the C&J, and 293 kg overall. This time around in Doha, he managed to improve his total result by 7 kg, which is no small feat in this category.
