Irakli Chkheidze won Bronze in the Clean & Jerk In the Men’s 102 kg Category at the 2024 IWF European Championships

The men’s 102 kg category is always one of the more anticipated ones during any championships, and during this year’s Europeans, it didn’t disappoint as we saw 11 top-notch lifters fighting for the top spots on the podium.

For Irakli Chkheidze of Georgia, the competition started off well, with him getting his first two Snatch attempts for a result of 175 kg, which left him in sixth place and in the battle for the top spots.

On the Clean & Jerk, the Georgian lifter had a fantastic first attempt of 212 kg, but unfortunately, he couldn’t improve on it on his second and third attempts. However, even with a result of 212 kg, Chkheidze still managed to win the bronze medal for the C&J and placed fifth overall in the rankings for the category.

During last year’s edition of the Europeans, the lifter from Georgia finished in second place, so it’s likely a bit disappointing that he couldn’t defend his medal. In 2023, Chkheidze also finished 6th in the World Championships in Riyadh.
