2024 IWF Asian Championships: Bekdoolot Rasulbekov won Silver in the Men’s 102 kg Event
As we’re coming near the end of the Asian Championships, we’re starting to witness the heavyweight category, and thankfully, they’re delivering the same incredible results and exciting events as the previous divisions.
In the men’s 102 kg in the absence of team China, we saw some names return to the podium.
One of them was Bekdoolot Rasulbekov from Kyrgyzstan, who managed to win two silver medals – one overall and one for his Clean&Jerk. The competition day didn’t start all that well for the Kyrgyzstani lifter as he finished fifth on the snatch lift with 173 kg, even though all three of his lifts were successful.
However, he compensated for that start by lifting 213 kg on the clean & jerk, which was enough for him to get the silver medal for the lift and the silver medal for the category with a total of 386 kg.
Prior to this international win, Rasulbekov won a bronze medal at the 2021 Islamic Solidarity Games and a silver medal at the 2022 Asian Championships in Manama, so for him, this is a return to a podium spot and a terrific result for team Kyrgyzstan.
