Bunyad Rashidov Won Gold and bronze at the IWF Grand Prix in Doha
Day 4 of the World Cup in Doha was just as exciting, if not more, as the previous three days of the competition. We saw many lifters show incredible results and manage to win multiple medals at a single event, one of whom – Bunyad Rashidov from Turkmenistan, got a gold and a bronze medal in the 67 kg division.
To win the accolades, Rashidov managed to lift 141 kg in the snatch and 157 kg in the Clean&Jerk, which gave him a total of 298 kg – enough to win both the overall bronze medal and the gold for the snatch. A fantastic effort for a lifter who’s new to the international stage and hasn’t managed to get a ton of competitions under his belt.
Bunyad’s last outing was at the 2023 Asian Championships in Jinju, where he lifted 140 kg in the Snatch and 162 kg in the Clean&Jerk for a total of 302 kg, which is 4 kg better than what he showed yesterday. Still, there’s plenty to be proud of and it’s certain that he’s on the right path, looking forward to the Olympics in Paris next year.
