Women’s 76 kg Division Recap – IWF European Weightlifting Championships 2024

Day 6 of the European Weightlifting Championships displayed an impressive lifting session in the Women’s 76-kg weight category, where eleven female athletes were performing in the Group A.

The battle in the division was attention-hooking as the warriors of the Top 3 were competing equally trying to surpass others with extreme weights.

The winner in today’s weight class was TOKO KEGNE Genna Romida from Italy who lifted 101 kg in Snatch at the second attempt, 126 kg in Clean & Jerk at the second try, and a total of 227 kg.

The second place was occupied by RUBANOVICH Nicole from Israel who got in a total of 216 kg, she lifted 99 kg in Snatch, and 117 kg in Clean & Jerk.

The bronze medalist was DANCZ Lara from Germany: she lifted 101 kg in Snatch, 114 kg in Clean & Jerk, and got 215 kg in the sum of two exercises.

Top Athletes’ Review

The Women’s 76-kg weight category winner TOKO KEGNE Genna Romida, is an Italian weightlifter who won silver at the 2023  XIII Mediterranean Weightlifting Cup and Malta International Open.

Speaking about the silver medalist, RUBANOVICH Nicole from Israel, won bronze at the 2019 European Championships in the 71-kg category and a silver medal at the 2024 European Championships in the 76-kg category.

The bronze holder DANCZ Lara from Germany, is a silver medalist at the 2022 European U-23 Championships and a bronze holder at the 2021 European U-23 Championships.

It needs to be mentioned that an athlete representing Hungary Laura HORVAT is a professional sportswoman  and is believed to be the queen of functional fitness of 2023. She is earning the title of the fittest woman on earth and 2-times Rogue Invitational winner. 

Despite not being a professional Olympic weightlifter, she still competes in Oly weightlifting competitions, and holds the national record in Clean & Jerk, winning the national championship last year.

In November 2023, she competed at the Hungary National Championship in weightlifting and won in her weight division with a total of 215 kg.

In Bulgaria she became fourth in the Clean and Jerk session, and could even win a medal if successfully lift her last attempt.

Snatch results:

Considering the Snatch session, we can say that almost half of lifters had two red lights. While the Snatch leaders showed the following results:

🥉RUBANOVICH Nicole (ISR) –  99 kg

During the Clean & Jerk exercise, there was a much more failed lifts: almost everyone had red lights on the second or third attempts.
