IWF Grand Prix II, Day 4 Recap – Men’s 67 kg results

The fourth day of the Grand Prix II in Qatar was full of impressive lifts, tough battles, and new winners’ faces in both the Men’s 67 kg and Olympic Men’s 73 kg categories who tried their best to display ultimate power and technique.

Fourteen weightlifters have already ordered their weights, but not all athletes succeeded in accomplishing their strategies.

The Olympic 73-kg weight division brought the heat on the podium as nine lifters showcased their energy this evening. You’ll find the detailed review of the 73-kg weight class performance here.

Highlights of the Category Men’s 67 KG: RI Won JU Turns on the Day’s Gold Winner With 17-Kg Gap Ahead

Today the male lifters from the 67-kg division faced off on the platform to settle the spots before heading to the Olympics in Paris. Despite all fourteen listed athletes, just six of them impressed and caught our sight with the following numbers.

The first-place holder became Ri Won Ju who did a bronze-medal Snatch of 139 kg, gold in Clean&Jerk of 178 kg, and 317 kg total.

The silver medal moved to a weightlifter from Bulgaria, Ivan Dimov who performed his total of 300 kg, 140 kg in Snatch, and 160 kg in Clean&Jerk. 

Bronze was clinched by Rashidov Bunyad from Turkmenistan who lifted 141 kg in the Snatch round, 157 kg in Clean & Jerk, and in a total gained 298 kg.

Let’s remember the most remarkable insights into today’s Top lifters’ accomplishments. To start from our gold winner: Ri Won Ju was a debutant at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou and caught a success to win silver. 

Bulgarian Ivan Dimov competed earlier in the 61-kg division, but this time moved up to the 67-kg class. He won the gold medal in the 61-kg category at the 2022 European Championships in Tirana, with results 135-151-286.

At the 2023 Europeans in Yerevan, he took bronze in the same 61-kg weight class finishing with 127-150-277. At the World Championships in Riyadh, Dimov ranked 6th with 133-160-293. So, he managed to improve his total result by 5 kilos.

Rashidov Bunyad from Turkmenistan was a new face at the such level of competitions. His last event performance was at the 2023 Asian Championships in Jinju where he lifted 140 kg in Snatch, 162 kg in Clean & Jerk, and got 302 kg in total.

Besides today’s favorites, other weightlifters showed good results in single rounds and finished their performances with awards. For instance, Akmolda Sairamkez from Karakhstan was second in Clean & Jerk round by lifting 168 kg. This result enabled him to surpass Bulgarian Dimov by 8 kilos.

Muratbek Uulu Ishimbek from Kyrgyzstan ranked third and won bronze in Clean & Jerk with a result of 164 kg that was another strong lift prevailed Dimov and Rashidov in this session.

To summarize, here’s the whole list of medalists of the 67-kg class:

  1. Ri Won Ju won 2 golds: in totals and C&J, and bronze in Snatch.
  2. Dimov Ivan got 2 silver in totals and Snatch.
  3. Rashidov Bunyad won bronze in totals and gold in Snatch.
  4. Akmolda Sairamkez took silver in C&J.
  5. Muratbek Uulu Ishimbek got bronze in C&J.
